[Smash Mods] Project M Contact Info Survey
Posted by: Strong Bad - December 29th, 2011 09:25 PM - 1 comment(s)
Hello all,

Over two hundred individuals completed the last survey, and, judging from its success, we would like to take it a step further. The Project M Back Room would like to collect data in order to assess the degree of Project M interest in your area. We would like to collect contact information so that we can notify you about nearby PM events. Think of it as a newsletter for specific regions.

If you are interested in being informed about possible nearby Project M showings, please take this brief survey so that we may more easily and quickly inform you!

Thank you!

[Smash Mods] Take the Project M Region Representation Survey!
Posted by: Shanus - December 23rd, 2011 07:08 PM - 11 comment(s)
Hi all,

We're trying to gather data about what Smash regions need access to the game. We would like Project M to touch all the corners of the globe, but we can't do that if everyone's all concentrated in one spot.

To view the location of current PMBR members, click here:
http://tinyurl.com/PMBRplayermap

So, take the survey (and get your friends to do it too!) to give us an idea of where we need to start recruiting:

[Smash Mods] P:M Blog post #8 - Tether Ledge Occupancy
Posted by: Magus - October 21st, 2011 04:25 PM - 26 comment(s)
Howdy everyone,

Today's announcement is a second overhaul to the ledge system, courtesy of yours truly.

It is something that has plagued Brawl players ever since 2008, and will make the ledge-game more interesting for several characters.

Oh no! Ivysaur is done for!

Oh, I guess Ivysaur is safe then. The Project M team really thinks of everything, don't they?

Tether Ledge Occupancy - In Brawl, characters who were grabbing a ledge prevented tethering opponents from recovering. This resulted in many easy gimps against characters who were stuck with tether-dependent recoveries.

What we've done changes the off-stage game for these characters dramatically - tethers will grab the ledge regardless of whether or not a character is currently hanging on to it! This property also works in reverse, so tether characters cannot "tetherhog" another player just by hanging by their tether. This is a major change in the gameplay for tether recoveries, one that should come as a breath of fresh air to many players.

What happens if the tether character pulls towards the ledge while the other character is still on the ledge? Instead of pulling up onto the ledge, they'll do a ledgejump instead!

Of course, since tethers don't occupy the ledge anymore, expect some very silly shenanigans:

[P:M] P:M Blogpost #7 - Ledge Occupancy
Posted by: Shanus - October 19th, 2011 12:44 PM - 9 comment(s)
Hi everyone,

It's been a while! The Project M team wanted to share a brief update with everyone regarding one of many new codes we have created recently:

Ledge Occupancy Modifier - In brawl, ledge occupancy duration is entirely dependent on the animation crossing the stage plane, and in many cases lacks consistency and meaningful duration. This means in many cases, a ledgeroll, or ledge attack might very often have lower occupancy than a ledge stand, and is often around 33-66% the duration that many players are used to.

We don't necessarily think that lower occupancy is a bad thing, though, as it often requires more precision to edgeguard effectively. Our new code will allow us to set explicit frames of ledge occupancy untied from the animation itself. We plan to use this to adjust occupancy on a move by move basis for every character, but are not yet at a point where we are ready to disclose how much occupancy yet.
