Fixed Camera Issues
07/21/2012, 04:42 PM
Post: #1
I'm not a huge fan of how close the came gets on some stages when playing alone, so I sometimes use fixed camera mode. I tried YS and GHZ with the feature and noticed the camera was way off on both. There may be other stages with the same issue, but seeing as most of my stuff non-legal stages have been replaced, I can't test it.

I came to the forum to report this bug, but it looks like TheDevicer beat me to it.

Here is a list of stages that are horribly broken in Fixed Camera Mode:
  • Yoshi's Story
  • Frigate Orpheon
  • Yoshi's Island
  • Pictochat
  • Skyloft
  • Green Hill Zone

And a list of stages that the PMBR should take a look at for minor camera tweaks:
  • SSE: Jungle (though this one is still playable, you can't see past the edges of the main platform)
  • Fountain of Dreams (can't see under the stage, which isn't game-breaking at all but is a hindrance for e.g. practicing Ike's wall jump here)
  • Shadow Moses Island (needs to be panned up just a slight bit so you can see the tops of the towers)
  • Onett (needs to be zoomed out just a slight bit and panned left a slight bit so you can see past the blue house)
  • Pokemon Stadium 1 (perhaps panned up slightly so you can see more of the pillar, same as FoD. This one really isn't broken at all, though.)

I replaced Norfair with Axcel's Norfair:M, so I can't test that stage.

The camera has some general issues, such as when a player dies on the bottom of the stage the camera will stay focused there until he respawns.

But when a character is a clone already, and that clone has become VERY popular with players, then giving them an original moveset in a sequel is almost equivalent to taking that character out of the game. But if these characters that people already know and enjoy playing as were changed just for the sake of being 'different' and not 'better'? P:M is good not because it made changes to Brawl, but because it made changes to Brawl for the better.
