Hello all, I'm just looking for advice on approaches as fox. I've always been using nair and the occasional shine cancel for shield pressure, but other than that is there anything else I could do? |

Try dair followed by shine, often times it's the best set-up for an upsmash or a grab after you wavedash out of shine. Just make sure you fast-fall when doing the dair or else it's very easy to grab you and can mess up your l-cancelling. Don't use it too much, it's sometimes easy to counter

Fox can approach with whatever he feels like, man. Real talk, though. Nair, dair, running shine, running JC grab, and running up smash are his best options. Probably in that order. It's up to you to experiment versus the cast in as many situations as possible to learn which approach option is best in which situation. |

If you're fast enough with Fox you can leverage most of his attacks as approaches in some capacity. There are years and years of top-level Fox metagame development, I suggest searching for some Fox Grand Final matches from the last year and jotting down some notes. |

SHeLL's got it. I suggest Fox dittoes in particular. I'm not a good enough player to give spot on advise, but there's some serious approach games involved in every Fox ditto.

Fox dittos is about who can get above the other fox, and which fox is better at rock paper scissors, tbh. If you want to practice approaching, fight a good Marth, or Falco player. |

For your approaches, NAir, DAir, or BAir LCanceled in to shine is super safe. Which of the three you're going to use usually just depends on what character you're fighting against. It's a great approach due to safety and if they shield the shine, you can JC Grab out of your shine. If they figure that out mix in wavedashing backwards out of shine and waiting for the spotdodge. Mostly just remember your approach revolves around Aerial > Shine > react. |

Does anyone know if the physics of Foxes Dair have been changed to hold people in it better? Like Zelda smashes were? Or can you still SDI out of Dair? Is SDI in this game even? Nobody did that enough in melee, would've saved so many lives over the years if people just weren't too lazy to mash a stick! At least everyone learned to do that to his Uair... You can still DI out of his Uair if he doesn't space it properly... right? o.O |

As far as I'm aware, Fox has received no buffs aside from some killer taunts. XP Yes! DI is 100% melee = SDI.

Why would you approach? You've got infinite bullets with your gun

Some matchups go more like u-throw to nAir to regrab. Don't you love falcon on FD?
