I would love to see side-b become grenade and neutral b become SOCOM.

It should operate like a medium between Fox/Falco's lasers. Slightly less stun power than Falco's lasers, and a bit less speed than Fox's. However, opponents should have the ability to intercept bullets like Shiek's needles. (SOCOM should be land cancellable of course)

To further diversify it, I think a reload/ammo system should be impletmented. 10 rounds seems like an appropriate and easy to count number and Snake should grunt when he is out. Holding B should cue a reload.

I do admit that this idea sounds a little farfetched but I think its exactly what Snake needs. As is, he is incredibly vulnerable to pressure. Giving him SH SOCOM will give him more options to fight Falco, Shiek, and Jiggs. (Who I personally believe are going to be his toughest MUs).

While Nikita could be improved by speeding up the animations, the missle's base speed, and making it explode on contact,

I feel that making the new SideB the M9 tranquilizer Gun would potentially be cooler and more useful, especially if you can code in Tactical reload. Smile

I still find my temporary avi amusing.

Tranq dart sounds way too good to me considering Snake could RPG a sleeping opponent (I assume that's what the dart would do). I'm very interested in what that shotgun looked like.

First post...

I really dig this shotgun idea. Something that wouldn't be a kill move, but would be there to keep people at bay. Enough knockback to make it viable enough for controlling space... which, at least to me, is really how I see Snake's gameplay as a whole. Of course this could lend itself to a more diversive tech chase game as well. I see it as having a little less knockback and damage than the new Falcon Kick.

I really don't like the current SideB and would much rather see a new move, much like how we got the uppercut (a new favorite of mine) Snake feels so different from his Brawl counterpart anyway, so lets see where a new side b could take us! Whatever it might be....

I've changed my mind. I'd like to see Side - B turned into a man - portable rail gun. A kind of slow start - up as Snake pulls it out and readies himself, then unleashes a hard hitting attack. It would have 3 levels. The first do medium damage and wouldnt be that much of a threat on your shield. The second would do more damage but came with a stun effect. The third would blow blow the enemy away.

Lol, at OPed idea. Bu then of course, he could always just smack them with it up close.

The same could probably go for Snake's mortars.

If the Nikita can keep track of button presses, then:
L/R/Z to drop it normally
and
B to stop controlling it, but have it continue on it's path (accelerating as it would normally. This happens when snake gets hit, I believe).

This gives snake a projectile that is part spirit bomb, part arrow. Arrow in the trajectory customization, spirit bomb in the "deal with me and my creator at the same time".

Since it has fuel, this could make snake firing Nikitas into the sky post-kill a semi-legitimate defensive maneuver.

It's knockback may have to be made closer to 65 degrees because with this improvement Nikita may be a completely sick edgeguard assistant.

I have said other things about Nikita, but I firmly believe this to be the best of my suggestions. Some adding or subtracting of lag/startup would almost definitely be warranted in order to make it play fairly, however.

Thoughts?

Speed up animation, and when canceling the nikita, the missile will continue to go forwards. I imagine something along the lines of a Super Missile from Samus, but not able to double pump it.

I really agree with everything stated above, as far as helping the Nikita perform better. If ya still feel like he needs help you could give him something Arkimblad mentioned in the Character Idea Submission.

(11/02/2011 04:35 AM)Arkimbald Wrote:  Why can't Snake just whack them with the Nikita launcher, like in MGS1? I loved that useless crab-claw attack. ;_;
(It can hit Psycho Mantis while in Port 1.)

Hopefully this might replace the Rocket Launcher, but still hitting low (≥ hitbox) for lots of damage. I suggest that b/c the Rocket Launcher really didn't make too much sense to blast one off at pointblank range(w/out taking damage) or continue to travel if it was shot near an edge.
Don't get me wrong though: one of the first things I heard about snake was how players where using explosives to get back on to the stage. So I thought Snake might be a little like Pichu, in the idea of damaging himself in order to complete the mission. But when I saw him whip out the Rocket Launcher the first time I was like "He's gonna instantly vaporize himself Eek and possibly his opponent...I Immediately had a ! over my head. So I at first thought it was freaking awesome.

Repost from submission thread.

Let the side-B cancel in two ways- R/L cuts the rocket's fuel and makes it drop from where it is, B/A Cuts the rocket's guidance and it continues on its path until it runs out of fuel naturally.

Replace the nika missle for a dud C4

he should be able to lay down another C4 but it would just be a dud and it would freak people out

this would make his game more about controlling space and freaking out the enemy

it would be extremely fun to play like this, or to have someone do it to you.

-The controls to drop the dud :
you could get rid off the nika missile and make over b the dud c4.

But if you could combo into the missle that be awesome too. im excited for either or Smile

yes replace it with a FAMAS(could work similar to how chris redfield in MvC3) or M9 pistol/tranquilizer.

This thread is old and we are well past changing Snake's Side B to a new move for the moment. Until Snake seems to be having a problem with a bunch of match-ups, maybe we'll consider a new Side B. For the time being, however, it is unneeded.

Locked due to oldness.
