Snake Info Dump. [DEMO 1]

Just wanted to say that if I recall correctly, once the C4 is planted on someone, you have 25 seconds to detonate the C4 otherwise it falls off the person.

The more and more I play Snake, the more I believe that Dair needs to be shortened like Nair was to only three hits. I'd take the trade off for having only one hit that spikes. I'm finding myself constantly missing the final hit of the Dair whenever I'm fighting against someone, and chasing their SDI. With a four hit Dair, you can only really use it when you're ascending from the ground, and initializing it rather telegraphed. By reducing the total duration of the move, Dair would become more flexible.

Some weird little bug I just noticed, if you have a mine dead center in the stage, pulling out a grenade will cause the mine to explode.

Not a serious problem, but thought I'd just go ahead and say somethin'.

Wow, my friend said the same thing. It's kind of... retarded.
Has anyone tried sticking a mine to the wall to edge guard? Seems kind of... mean.

I don't know about that, it seems a little time consuming.

I almost ALWAYS put a mine near the edge if my opponent is off stage though due to how it often times gets guaranteed (at least I think they are) hits. which makes it a great edge guarding tool. I think however this loses its effectiveness against marth (who I think blows it up without hitting himself when he recovers). Against marth a C4 placement may be more ideal.

Snakes edgeguarding game is pretty ridiculous imo. I believe it may be possible to hit fox's up B with fsmash (I've done it before while he comes from below) but I don't know any angle limitations yet.

I don't know if you've mentioned his chain grabs of FF's ( or at least spacies) in the first post but against fox starting at like 35 he gets a cg.

Against puff I'm positive ftilt 1-Grab is a true combo although it needs more testing.

I really don't think falco however will be our worst mu. But time will tell.

Lets get this metagame rolling. We have 9 years to make up.

So apparently the claymore near the ledge + C4 on top of platform edge guard set-up is so effective, it got me timed out at Pound 5 because the person refused to try and get passed it. He just sat on the ledge until the timer ran out...

JUST LIKE MELEE!!!

From my understanding (as told by JCaesar) you were camping long before GuruKid started. But I'll wait for the videos assuming any of yours got saved before judging any further.

Fino, I suggest you watch my snake from these videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/nonstandardtoaster There are about 11 videos you can watch of my snake.

JCaesar also seems to have a pretty good snake. Camping with one grenade, though, is not the best way to play snake in this game. XD

So wait... you gave a character 5 projectiles/explosives that can be used in conjunction with his other moves... and you expected the character to be hard core aggro? Let's take a look at what your colleague's advice was:

Watched the game on the homepage, Snake vs Marth

What I learned: Get railed until you start using projectiles. Hope for lucky kills.

Conor's Snake: Get railed until you use projectiles.

Cubaisdeath: Hope you play bad / extremely forgiving opponents.

Sneak: Use projectiles creatively in conjunction with Snake's other moves - win.

I've already watched most of these vids though... and tried to apply things they did. Entering a tournament 2 weeks after release and planning on using a new character... don't you think I would've tried to study others playing him? lol.

Nope, that's why you have several other moves like C4, Claymores, mortars, and nikita missiles to build a puzzle for your opponent to go through. I usually try to use his projectiles as a distraction to what I want to do.

I don't think the most optimal way to play snake is really to be hard core agro like fino said.

from what I've seen its to use his explosives to limit options and capitalize with hard reads when they only have a few.

but I don't see how you should really be hard camping...because I can honestly see you screwing your own options if you HAVE to approuch

well...

fino has paved the way to show us early on in the metagame why we should not mega camp...

I hope you all honor his sacrifice and learn from it

Sadly, I can't find any videos of that glitch. =/
I did some tests, and the only stages I couldn't get it to work on were Temple: M, Rainbow Cruise, Brinstar, Norfair, Halberd, Rumble Falls, WarioWare, 75m, Temple, Corneria, and Castle Seige (except the castle interior part, happens there.). Again, it's not an overly crippling problem, but it could potentially screw up combos.

Bug is already known, i have seen the bug myself. Also, norfair isn't in the demo.

From 6:36 on, any one of his aerials could have set-up to kill me... Nair is safe on block and can combo into a kill move if it connects or if it hits on blocks. His aerials out prioritize mine as well... safe to say it's a bad match-up when you lose the lead?

*shrug*

I'm done with the game until all the bugs are fixed anyways. Whenever landing detection and other things are changed, the game will be different.

Looking forward to Olimar in PM.

Nice, all this info should help my snake game a little bit. I do have a question (or two) however...

1. Can you mortar slide in PM?

2. If so, can you use the c-stick? (down>up on c-stick while running)

I learned how to mortar slide with the c-stick early on in brawl before they discovered the traditional method and its always felt more natural to me since then.
