So I know a post of this nature would normally be relegated to the character specific forum, but I want to get some second opinions on this.

I play with a group of above average skill brawl players (read: significantly below competitive mastery of mechanics, but would absolutely zerodeath pubstomp the average player). Most of them have their main characters, they're really practiced with them, and they're pretty good. But I have never seen them get as angry as when I play Game and Watch... and honestly, unless they're just really doing something fundamentally wrong, I can kind of see where they're coming from. The way it seems to play out is if I hit someone and execute correctly they die every time, and there is literally almost nothing they can do about it due to the ridiculous frame advantages, movement speed, and air steer the character has. I don't even use judgement, it's a waste of time. His D-air/upb combo is impossible for most characters to deal with during recovery due to the speed at which he's able to relaunch. His extremely precise airsteer makes D-air spiking a breeze, and recovery from this is fast even on a whiff, sometimes providing easy mindgames for either D-air into ledgegrab fakes or vice versa. And since his speed is so high he can easily use his F-air (or perhaps worse, his upb) for knockback to push people out and then land, relaunch, and follow up chaining them together into an easy kill.

I will say, I have spent many, many hours practicing this character (he was my main on Brawl after my friends succumbed to the MK craze and I had to stop maining rob). I was already incredibly adept at maneuvering with him and when I got the added speed things just got out of hand. But I guess the point I'm getting to is this...

Please, tell me... am I just outplaying them like crazy, or have other people experienced similar issues? I'm particularly looking for feedback from more experienced players (and people who regularly stomp G&Ws hopefully) so I can give them advice to make the matchup less frustrating and actually begin playing with again. I had to stop for now, because currently it's just them sitting there watching me combo them after I open them up. Anyway, sorry for the tl;dr; and thanks for your help.

Any idea why this would happen? Using Riivolution

Allo, my roommate and I are very interested in contributing to the project.

We live in Coquitlam BC, Breez was a top ranking Brawl player some years back now, and the two of us have been playing PM like fiends for the better part of the last year. We have been playing and training with the best Melee players BC has to offer, and have gone through rapid progression as we've been mastering the new content Melee and PM offer.

Aside from Smash, Breez and I have a combined 25 years of competitive gaming experience under our belts, spanning Brood War, CS1.6, Quake, WoW, Street Fighter and several other franchises over the years. We've beta tested for a variety of games ranging from major studio to independent, and are currently developing an online network of tools to consolidate and improve the infrastructure of tournaments and detailed content for a variety of games.

We currently play on average, 50-80 hours a week, with a number of high profile BC players: Meta, Blunted_Object10, Noobking, Yakal, SinisterB, and many other local smashers. We are the central hub of a large portion of BC's smash scene, as adults with our own housing With Meta being a regular occupant of our couch, we all agree that it would be incredibly beneficial to be able to test new content extensively, with a few more sets of eyes and hands. We have all focused predominantly on exploring the under-represented characters, and working out new areas for the meta-game to develop. Our passion is definitely anchored around the growth of Project M as its own new entity, and not concerned with playing falco dittos.

We regularly stream and record footage, and will be upgrading our living room setup to host a dedicated media server. We have a dedicated PM setup, as well as access to two additional setups and a cube/melee disc. Our twitch is http://www.twitch.tv/play_for_keeps where you can find hours of meta and breez money matching, and occasionally the rest of us playing for days at a time.

When it comes to the guts of the game, we have an online library that houses PM codesets and our collected custom content, from which we can custom build mods from the ground up, with various UI/HUD mods, and other basic texture swaps. We're fairly adept with BrawlBox, and have a high understanding of languages and content management.

TL;DR version: We are highly experienced gamers and avid fans of PM, as well as integral members of the local community. Our insights and skills are highly valuable, and we have everything necessary to document, record, and relay any problems that may occur during the testing process. We'd be able to contribute considerably more as a small team than Meta does on his own.

1) What region do you live in?

I live in Fairfax Virginia.

2) What smash tournament experience do you have?

I played Super Smash Bros. Melee competitively since 2003. I have been to many tournaments in that time. I played Brawl competitively for about a year when it first came out as well. Playing Project M has really gotten me back into the swing of things and I have been to a Project M tournament at Xanadu and a Project M tournament at East Coast Elites.

3) What other notable players do you frequently play with?

Me and my roommate, Flex play frequently but we also hold regular smashfests where SS4Ricky and Bobz show up among a few of my other friends. (2Chaingz for one.) We all play a variety of different characters. I occasionally play with Chillindude but not frequently.

4) How much time do you have available?

I do work a 40 hour a week job doing mostly desktop support but I am generally free in the evenings.

5) Do you own a Wii? If you do not own one and instead use someone elses, how often do you have access to it? Is the latest public version of Project M already installed on it?

Yes I have my own Wii with the latest public version!

6) Do you have the ability to run streams or upload videos?

I actually do, here is my twitch! http://www.twitch.tv/eastcoasteddie. I recently bought a capture card and have a pretty decent laptop for recording!

7) Can you provide any video footage of you playing?

1) Tell us a little bit about yourself: Where are you from? What are your hobbies? Are you working or in school?

I'm from Windsor, CT. I currently attend the University of Miami. I major in Media Writing and Production, which is basically writing music for various forms of media (movies, pop songs, video games, etc). I've been writing music for over a decade. During the summer I work as an Activity Director at a resort, and a lifeguard at a day camp.

2) What are some previous projects you have worked on? Have any of these been group efforts?

Last year I decided, as a personal exercise, to compose fully orchestrated musical scores for the entire Hunger Games book trilogy. All 40+ pieces can be found on my youtube channel:

http://www.youtube.com/composinkid

I have also scored a few student films at school, where I worked actively with the directors to get the best results possible. Unfortunately these are not on the internet (yet) because they are being submitted to various film festivals where they could get disqualified if they are online.
I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I can devote as much time as needed to make sure the P:M community gets the quality they deserve.

4) How long have you been playing smash?
I've been playing Smash Brothers games for about 7 years, starting in 2006. Though I've been modding Brawl for about 3 years, starting in 2010.
I graduated from High School last year. But I'm currently not employed, though I did have a job at an Okemo restaurant back in Late 2011 through Mid 2012. My job ended because customers weren't coming as often, due to the warmer weather.

I have been playing minus ever since the 1.0 patch about, and as excited as I am for the eventual release of MAX, there are some concerns that I have as a fan of vbrawl. Now when I say that I mean that minus is slowly ditching vbrawl. We could say that vbrawl skills carry over to minus, but that is already not true for some characters. And now that I am hearing about new builds for chars like sonic, wario, etc, I am both excited for the development for MAX, but sad to see vbrawl slowly fade away.

Sonic needs more than buffs to compete in MAX. That is why he is getting new normals. But he did play exactly like he did in vbrawl, so I'm sorry to see portions of his move set thrown out. And with wario, people say that he is not minusy enough, but what the hell does that mean? I have played wario and he has no problem doing combos, granted they aren't long. His attacks make up for that by being quick, and he is very dodgy due to his aerial mobility. His only problem is that his dsmash is worse than his upsmash, so why does he need to be more minusy?

Also, this something that I only just realized, even though it has been gone for a long time. Tethering no longer works due to the increase in hit stun and the removal of air dodging out of tumble. Yes, it can be used as an alternate recovery, but it does not tether. I played in a vbrawl tourney at my colleges gaming club, and I had forgotten how cool it was to be hit by a strong side burner, but then tether to the stage to reduce knock back.

I'm not saying that these things need to remain unchanged for the integrity of vbrawl. I welcome these changes for the development of MAX, but I have mixed feelings about seeing these things go. Vbrawl did a lot of things wrong, or rather it could have been better, but not everything was bad.

After an unfortunate incident I lost all my previous Brawl- files so I'm forced to start over. So I go to the download page and download version 2.6 (The newest version) and whenever I go to stage select it freezes. So I do some reading and find out 2.6 is kinda broken and I should download and install 2.4 and 2.5 first. But the problem is I have no idea where I'd go to download them. I've searched around here and around the web but either there aren't any download links or I'm an idiot or something.

TL;DR I need download link links for version 2.4 and 2.5

1) What region do you live in?
Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada.

2) What smash tournament experience do you have?
I've been attending tournaments since shortly before Brawl's release. I have followed the scene rather closely as well as run a few tournaments personally, assisted in the hosting of Canada's national Impulse in 2012, and continuing that support in 2013.

3) What other notable players do you frequently play with?
Due to other gaming commitments, I haven't been able to make it to the nearby scene's friendlies for about two months. Prior to that, I've played with Niko_K, Bing and during my time in college before then, with Toronto area players like Tin Man, Red X, Snow Shard, V115, Poke and others.

4) How much time do you have available?
A lot. I only work 3 days a week.

5) Do you own a Wii? If you do not own one and instead use someone elses, how often do you have access to it? Is the latest public version of Project M already installed on it?
I own a soft modded Wii and as mentioned, I have a fair amount of free time. I do already have the current version of Project M and enjoy playing it with friends, and even just alone on the odd occasion to mess around. I was also friends with the members of Syntax Error back in the early days of Brawl hacking and spent a long time as a member of Stack Smash as a hex editor with the occasional texture creation.

6) Do you have the ability to run streams or upload videos?
Yes, I stream rather often personally as well as other ventures. I am the co-producer, director, graphics operator and sound guy for ESChamp, an organization trying to grow the eSports scene in Canada. Our Season 1 Finals are happening this coming Saturday at Anime North in fact. Outside of that, I ran the stream for Impulse in 2012, producing the overlays and such and I am a regular featured streamer for a game called Elsword, in that my stream is featured on their social media outlets and I am given some prizes to giveaway.

Finally, I am the webmaster for Open Broadcaster Software, a free, high performance open source alternative to the commonly used Xsplit. Twitch has recently informed us that the split between OBS and Xsplit is essentially even.

7) Can you provide any video footage of you playing?
I can't remember the actual events where I've played on stream, as my work with ESChamp has left me unable to attend any tournaments recently. The only video I think I could hope to find is from a tournament over 3 years ago, which would be a poor representation. If it counts, I'm the best Smash player in my town to my knowledge (Please ignore my towns lack of a scene and that my friends suck)

Other Notes:
I am also a self taught web developer, I run http://obsproject.com and created the website for Impulse in 2012 and 2013 (Minus the registration system, which is by Bionic) and am very involved in the livestreaming scene with a high interest in producing high quality events. I have past experience as a game tester in various capacities, including a fair amount of time as a very involved tester in a retail game (Heroes of Newerth) and have most recently been giving my input on Air Dash Online.

I have a rather useful habit of breaking things in strange ways. Well, useful when it comes to games in development

So I am trying to switch over to Riivolution as I like the idea of being able to change sound effects and such. The only problem is that when I load up Brawl + using Riivolution it WILL load, but all the codes like the character CSS I.E Shiek, Zelda, Samus, ZSuitSamus, and the Pokemon aren't there. On top of this the infinite camera modes aren't working either so I can't pan the camera around when paused, and I can't save infinite replays either like I would normally be able to do if I were using Gecko rather than Riivolution. Another thing I have noticed as far as codes goes is that I can now trip just like in Vanilla Brawl, and I can no longer Wave Dash/Dash Dance anymore either. I have no idea if this has to do with how Riivolution works or what, but if anyone would be so kind as to shed some light on this that would be most appreciated. If I can get this to work for Brawl+ then I am pretty sure I can get things to work like how I want with Brawl- and Project M as well.

If it helps at all I am using Beyondriivolution's XML and codemanger bin I attempted to use an Ocarina XML and condemanger, but when I used those and tried to load up Brawl with Riivolution it just takes me to a black screen and nothing ever loads and I am forced to hard reset my Wii when this occurs. I really would love to get this to work with Riivolution but if I can't then its all good.
