Take the Project M Region Representation Survey!

Hi all,

We're trying to gather data about what Smash regions need access to the game. We would like Project M to touch all the corners of the globe, but we can't do that if everyone's all concentrated in one spot.

To view the location of current PMBR members, click here:
http://tinyurl.com/PMBRplayermap

So, take the survey (and get your friends to do it too!) to give us an idea of where we need to start recruiting:

Yes, we need REAL players in VA. Ones who can have matches often, and ones who aren't 2 billion miles away. How exactly do you guys plan on doing all of this, though?

What do you mean by 'doing all of this'?

Yeah, sure, maybe northern VA, but not my part of VA. Everyone lives more than an hour's drive away; you expect to be able to drive that far with this economy? Not without an electric scooter, nope.

Well, the blog post says "We can't do that if everyone's concentrated in one spot", which made me think you meant somehow getting players of the game to areas with less players. Like, say, a missionary type thing, but for video games. But I'm just getting my hopes up insanely high, aren't I?

Sorry to hear that, but since VA already has several reps spread out all over the state, it's not really somewhere we're looking to expand.

Asking for a PMBR member within an hour of everywhere in the United States would be absurd. We'd have more PMBR members than there are Smashers.

I realize that, which is exactly why I didn't mean it like that.
But a boy/man/man-boy can still be hopeful for one closer by. I guess I'll just have to convince my friends to start playing Smash. Can't be too hard, I hope.

I am not sure if this is the Best place to post (not a Character Idea Submission) but at least for the reason I am about to explain, is the number 1 reason I am unwilling to represent or support Project M, especially for new ppl. Given that I actually liked the concept of Brawl, but definitely favored the idea of balance far more than anything else. O and I am in Minnesota.

So I remember seeing some mods that allowed you to have multiple character/people on the stage/screen; specifically, with picture icons and hit percentages, etc.

Now this was a melee mod where Super___man was powershielding(*not sure). This was fairly early on in Melee (like 2-4 years after Melee’s release). He had like him versus five CPUs, I always wanted to have more opponents ever since smash 64. Where you would put 3 CPUs against yourself. For me it was a limit and I was not able to increase the difficulty more. I know there are people that play (Melee tournament goers) that probably play against their friends with 1 vs 2-3 ppl. I would rather have the option to change it up by having 2 vs 4-5, where it would be me and a friend versus CPUs while waiting for our 3rd guy to show up for the 1 vs 2-3.

I like these options more because I found that I could be better with some characters than others (of course the more you play with a character the better you get). …it eventually was not as fun to play b/c I was beating Mitch and Tommy with this character.

Rather I found it was better for me to play as one of my secondaries instead of me shaming them with my best Character. Cause before I had to listen to them whine about me not being my best character and then after finally giving in having them say something like “lets watch a movie”. I know this could help people get back into “playing” b/c they can see the process of you getting better and be more eager going through the learning curve.

Of course it would be really awesome to have a training section/mode where you could have more than 2 players play, so more than 2 players could learn how to SHUFFL in slow-mo at once (more than 1 padawan learner). This however I know is asking a bit much, but at least having 6-7 slots for possible characters on stage would be enough to be useful in a melee match (note only 4 character would be playable).

In short I just don't like the idea of training newbies who aren't willing to go through the learning curve (b/c of difficulty)

Can't really add more player slots. There is a code that allows like 6-7 characters to play, but it was glitchy and will not be used in Project M.

Also, you're in Minnesota? Where are you in Minnesota? I'm in Eau Claire, Wisconsin which is about 2.5 hours away from Minneapolis. You should come to SMASH! Minnesota 3 in about 2 months. =D

I don’t know what else to say other than Glory to God, it just popped into my head:

Superdoodleman, specifically his Zero Mercy 3 video.

As Doc idk if I could have taken 4 lvl 9 CPUs, maybe it would have taken some time back in the day to work up to 5 lvl 9 CPUs. Like anything you hit the cap/limit on what you can do and then you move on to something else in life. This video is fairly similar to what I used to do but it gets boring doing the same thing over and over again. To be concise I have not played in a while but I always wanted to try going against opponents that were more independent as if they were well known samurais and your character(s) were ninja attacking a dojo. Being able to do something similar to that Superdoodleman video would have been more than a last hurrah.

At least you guys already thought of that and tried the extra player slots - no worries.
