I dunno if it's just my SD Card

But lately, my copy of Project M has been screwing up and resetting files back and forward, many occasions where I lacked a codes folder and my brstms easily corrupting within a few matches of the game. I've also noticed online matches can trigger effects from Vanilla and entirely reset the mod to that state.

Is there anyway I could long-term prevent this? I don't get many opportunities to use a pc to fix my files and this is really getting frustrating for myself.

Can you give us some specs about your system and how you're loading PM? White or Black Wii? What's your system version? Do you have a softmodded Wii? Have you ever installed cIOS? When did you last update your Wii? Was this through Nintendo or were you smart and got them from better sources. Have you ever deleted stubs? It may very well be that you need some downgrades and/or updates. For now, don't go about trying to install or update anything.

Just make sure the slider on the side of the card is in the unlocked position and that you've formatted the card.

Pardon for that lack of info. I usually load PM through GeckoOS, via homebrew. cIOS? My last update was 4.3u via Nintendo. Stubs? That's the thing; it isn't locked (slider) and I'm also confused by what you mean by formatted. The other thing isN I haven't updated my wii since that update and generally when I first got into modding, my friends and family have the same initial setup and their's works perfectly fine.

By formatted SD card, he means FAT, FAT32, NTFS, etc.

Oh, well those seem foreign so I know I've never formatted it ever.

Just put the SD in the computer, go to "Computer", and right click "format". A screen should pop up. Make sure you've got FAT32 selected. Then simply hit "start" at the bottom. This often fixes simple issues.

Different games are loaded trough various IOS. For a quick explanation, check this out: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS Sometimes, it's necessary to install custom IOS to play games since Nintendo loves including stuff in updates designed to stop us from hacking their console. Stubs are useless IOS that do exactly this. You can search for a list of known stubs and use the Any title deleter to get rid of those stubs.

That's most likely going to fix your problem.

I personally use FAT over FAT32. When I reformatted to see the difference, I noticed that FAT32 actually took longer for me to load stages and snapshots. Dunno why that is, but whatever.

Also before formatting, make sure you keep a backup of EVERYTHING in your SD card, or else it will be deleted permanently!

I believe I used FAT before and just recently switched to FAT32 and I seem to get the same issue. I suppose you ought to experiment with your SD a bit. I'm going back to FAT before the end f the day to see if this really is true in my case. I can't be sure yet.

Also, could a mod please move this thread to the Help and Support sub-section? Thanks in advance.

Just defragment your SD card. When the files are fragmented, the game loads pieces of nearby data when streaming, and it often results in loading songs over one another or files that aren't even songs that try to play as a song, causing disruptive brstms.

That's great advise. I'll be sure to include that in my thread for common fixes that I'm currently working on.

Sorry if I come off like a noob, but defrag? Is it a right click menu like the format menu was?

You can defragment disks from the control panel on your computer. It should be under system maintenance. Your SD card will be something like Removable Disk D/E/F when the options come up on the disk defragmenter.
