I... I don't want a faster startup or projectile speed. That would be silly. I'm not quite sure what I want, really... at least not yet. But purple is a nice start. |

Gandouken is actually a pretty good Mix-up. If you have the time to actually charge one up and force your opponent to be nearby when you do so (like on recovery), your opponent has to guess between the Gandouken, which is unshieldable and effectively undodgeable, or a lagless instant death move. On the former, they must jump over it or, on recovery, fall under it. Either gives Ganon a free rape time if he opts for the lagless Ganon punch -> punish move which pretty much deals death of your opponent is recovering. If they expect the normal Ganon punch, or if they are trying to counter/shield it to kill you, the Gandouken goes right through shields and even Ike's lack of sympathy. So I'd argue that in a few very select situations, a NB Mixup is actually your best option. On the note of the move feeling stupid: It needs fewer hits that deal much more damage and have hitlag, with dramatic hitlag on the last hit. Or something to that extent. It feels dumb because it has an epic buildup, but it ends in an anticlimax because instead of a super move you sort of get a ball of smoke. It feels weak. Proper use of hitlag will negate this. If you are worried about comboing off of Gandouken being too easy with the introduction of hitlag on his projectile, then increase his cool down a tad. It is absolutely worth it to make an idea as awesome as the gandouken actually feel awesome. |
