So I was playing around as Mario in training mode earlier and I discovered that dthrow to footstool is a true combo, albeit one of the least useful things I've ever discovered/tested extensively except for dashdancing stickywalks in Melee. Also note that the whole thing is probably worthless anyway since I haven't tested it on real people yet (i.e. with DI). I decided to test it on all of the characters, and here are the results: Easy to perform: Bowser (true to the source?) Captain Falcon Charizard Diddy Kong Donkey Kong Falco Fox Ganondorf Ice Climbers (and you can impale Nana, too) Ike Jigglypuff King DeDeDe Kirby Link Lucario Lucas Luigi Mario Marth Metaknight Mr. Game & Watch Ness Olimar (strangely easy) Pit ROB Samus Sheik Snake Sonic Squirtle Toon Link Wolf Yoshi Hard to perform (they fall too fast or are weird targets) Ivysaur (I don't know what it is, but it's just hard to do) Wario (he's back on the ground almost by the time you jump) Zelda (she's really thin) Impossible to perform: Peach Pikachu Now, there's the weird part. Peach and Pikachu are both immune to Mario's super-footstool thing. They just get affected by a normal footstool. I'm wondering if this was intentional or just a glitch or something? |

that is intriguing actually.... dunno....do they gain invulnerability the second they get footstooled or something in some kinda freak way? or is it something to do with their character size not getting hit by the footstool? cause i can understand pikachu cause it's small.....and it's an annoying broken SOB, but peach I have no idea why, cause I'd think she'd be big enough for it to hit...

Sounds interesting. Will test later.

Huh, I guess I'm not alone in seeing Peach not being affected by the goomba stomp.

They both actually get footstooled (and it's not even that hard to do), it's just that it's a regular vBrawl footstool, i.e. Mario gets jump height and they start falling, but they don't take damage and they go down at normal footstool speed. I haven't tested this in 1.6 yet, though, so it could have been fixed. |

The Pikachu/Peach resistance should be left because it's interesting matchup-wise.

Except that Pikachu completely shuts down Mario (as far as I can tell). I like it for Peach (the whole Mario saves Peach, Peach isn't effected that badly when a fat plumber jumps on her head), but Pikachu doesn't make sense. If possible, it would be cool to have it have more knockback to Bowser. |

No. Peach/Pika are still unaffected by Mario's footstool Did some testing. Have only tested for 5 minutes, and only against 7 opponents or so. Here are my results: - Luigi's footstool does less damage (12%), but is consistent against every character, and seems to work on every character regardless of them being on the ground or in the air. - Mario's footstool does more damage (16%), and although I'm probably wrong, I thought I saw it do different damages against different opponents. Unlike Luigi, it doesn't work on every character, but it can be combo'd into via dthrow (the reason this topic was created). It has an extremely small possibility of being a kill combo against some opponents whom are close to the edge. - ZSS, whom wasn't directly mentioned, is affected by all versions of both Mario's & Luigi's footstools. - Pikachu is never grounded/spiked by Mario's footstool, but is still affected by Luigi's footstool both on the ground and in the air. - Peach is odd. Like Pikachu, she is still affected by Luigi's footstools. Unlike Pikachu, she can still be affected by Mario's footstool if she is on the ground, but it is a very rare chance. She is never affected by Mario's footstool in the air. - Olimar is even weirder. Again, like Peach/Pikachu, Luigi's footstool affects him. He is also affected by Mario's footstool combo, or when he is footstool'd in the air. But lolimar DOESN'T get grounded by Mario's footstool when he is on the ground. Very peculiar. I think it has something to do with a character's weight (or possibly a character's height), more than likely Mario's. Does Luigi weigh more than Mario in this game? >__> It could ALSO be due to a character's jump height. As in, Luigi naturally jumps higher than Mario (and is taller than Mario), obviously. Does this have any effect on anything? This is more interesting than I thought. I don't feel like testing the effects of Mario's/Luigi's footstool on every character (both ground and air results on every character), but it might be something worth looking into. Would be cool, but Mario already has his Cape ( and FLUDD >_> ) to go against Bowser. Don't think it would be needed... |

If the normal footstool was still in the game, I think Dthrow> Footstool>Weak Hitbox of Nair>Jab lock would be possible. Still, interesting find. Though I don't think it will be that effective with DI....

There's a good chance it depends on the footstooled animation of the victim, depending on how big the spike hitbox is. I'm betting it's much like how Samus could not originally pummel Bowser. We should only leave them as is if Peach or Pikachu otherwise have trouble against Mario. |

Luigi's already does (from what I've tested). I'm not going to bother with this right now, though...connection is laggy, and I'm still tired from yesterday. |
