I apologize in advance for not being very 'technologically literate' as far as terms are concerned.
I tried Brawl- with a friend a few days ago and had a great time trying out characters who I would never play in standard Brawl. My friend and I made our last match Bowser vs Ness.
My friend didn't stand a chance, the 'armor frames' I had on the ground made it essentially impossible for him to do anything against me. Bowser laughed big time at PK fire in particular. It'd come as no surprise to me if neither of us knew how to play our respective characters and/or against each other's character, seeing as no one we know ever plays as Ness or Bowser.
Essentially, this particular matchup seems totally stacked in Bowser's favor. Perhaps you technobabblers should take a look at these two side-by-side?

This seems like an oxymoron. Are you sure he's playing well? If he doesn't know crap about the game, he probably isn't...
His bair chomps through bowser easily and can be thrown out of shield. Definitely not that big of a problem not being able to use fair and fair only

In all fairness, armor frames aren't used enough in regular Brawl for a casual Brawl player to instinctively think of grabbing someone out of them.
i main ness and so far i havent even lost 2 stock to bowser.
the match up is greatly in ness's favor. bair combo's easily on bowser, you can sjc up airs to stack mad dmg on him, lastly you have a great spike on the guy, and a killer back throw. it isn't hard just getting in some dmg with ranged attacks and then 1 shoting him off the stage.
uhhh.... ness rapes bowser lol.
pk fire is good, it slows him down alot and you can hit him with all 3 at once to rack up alot of damage really fast.
plus djcuair/dair combos wreck him.
gangstakirby, you can only have two PKfire pillars out at once. Once a third one is made the first automatically goes away. It's like Luigi's fireballs.
you still can land 3 in a row.
I really don't think Bowser gets wrecked as much as people say, his SA usually makes a lot of characters play him differently than how their characters are normally played, and that really isn't a good or a bad thing. Seriously though, I have tried just about every matchup vs a Bowser Main/co main in Kirk, and Bowser is extremely solid against a lot of his "rape" matchups. Just because a character has tools to deal with Bowser, does not mean that Bowser gets raped.
bowser is still overrated imo.
This is how it goes.
Bowser is overrated with people who are new to the game, because he is the most radically different with his mechanics.
Bowser is underrated with people who get used to how to handle his gimmick, because they believe that once they learn how to knock him around, he gets easier to handle.
Bowser is not OP, nor is he average. He is a great character, and the basis of what Brawl- wants in a game: creative, crazy changes that radically change the game, while still making sense to the character himself.
Xyless knows what's up. Bowser is a solid B/A character and, along with DeDeDe and Snake, a heavy character who can force the hand of an opponent and out play dumbs who think they have him "Figured out." Truth be told, his Crawl out of Dash does a lot more for him than almost any other character, and his spacing is quite phenomenal.
bowser def isnt THAT good, he is like midqueer somewhere...
the only thing that deludes scrubs into thinking he amazing is SA.
there are still umpteen zillion options for most characters, but not sheik
his SA is by far the most overrated thing ever, also (idk if its been done yet but i heard it would be) taking away the ability to jab reset/lock him is one of the stupidest ideas ever

Oh, yeah, I'll admit it is by far his most overestimated skill in his arsenel, but it is by no means his best change. Huge recovery boost, big increase in mobility and a great spacing ability are what make Bowser truly fearsome. He's, ironically, probably the most mobile heavy.
idk, ganny is pretty mobile imo...
Ganon moves when he uses his attacks, but these forms of motion force Ganon to dedicate to them, unlike, for example, Ike's Side B, to which Ike doesn't have to dedicate himself. Bowser has a lot more options available in most situations than either of these two characters. Bowser is a very solid character and very capable if used by capable hands.
