That would actually be kind of cool.
It would, indeed...
Idon't forsee anything like this happening for some time, though. Any idea on what part of the games the stage ought to be based on? I never played Pikmin.
First things first, go play Pikmin. You could probably pick it up used at Gamestop for Wii at maybe $15, Gamecube cheaper.
I would really like mushroom kingdom II to be remade. That is by far my favorite smash stage ever.

Honestly speaking? You could take one of the first levels from either Pikmin and toss it there. Or just take the background from Distant Planet and use that.
Frankly the stage already works pretty well as a Pikmin level. All it needs is some iconic characters/objects and it's good to go, but seeing as they plan on putting all the old stages back in at some point it would be kinda pointless to make Jungle Pikmin themed since Distant Planet will be returning at some point.
Oh, did they get a stage cloner/multiplier/whatever thing working?
*excuse my ignorance if this is old news*

Yes. Phantom Wings made The Stage Roster Expansion sometime ago.
Oh very cool. Was it not in time for demo 2, or was it just something they chose not to include due to technical issues, or...?
they wanted to clear up some glitches in it.
Regarding Lylat Cruise

(06/11/2012 12:14 AM)Foxy_Faux Wrote: [ -> ]... given the tilting is fixed eventually it seems that stage would still be pretty bad due to its downward sloping on the edges. and maybe i'm alone in this, but does the bottom portion of Lylat cruise sort of resemble melee battlefield's lower stage layout? cuz it would be sooo sick if it could eventually evolve (or devolve) into a melee BF/ Lylat Cruise Hybrid.

shape wise, as far as the bottom half of the stage.
Something I've always thought would be really interesting for a singles counterpick stage, especially considering that wall infinites don't practically exist anymore would be a stage that looks something like this:
Lol ASCII

Obviously, the first issue we'd run into would be how we give players fair spawn points on the first stock. Haven't figured that out yet but I'm also not too sure how much of a problem it would be.
^^That could be cool... here i made a custom stage to test: http://www.mediafire.com/?c243q4cqmlk7se0 ...
pretty fun to play on... though it's a bit stupid cause custom stages...

So Fourside without the other buildings...?

The problem with stages with tall vertical terrain other than platforms is that it becomes possible to camp. Once you get on the top, it becomes increasingly difficult for other characters to approach you from below. It gets worse the taller the stage is, because some characters have trouble reaching such heights without using their double or even third jumps, and there's no way for them to get up there safely when another character is attacking them from above.

Additionally, walls are best avoided even with no true infinites in the game. Aside from many ridiculous types of combos that you can do from them, they give an easy way to survive way past kill percentages because of wall-teching. Even stages like Skyloft have this problem to a smaller extent, and that's just with sloped floors, not even walls.
I agree with everything you said HDT except for the above player having advantage. It wouldn't be quite as tall as Fourside. No, I wouldn't even compare it to Fourside. The proportions are off, but I'm thinking a wall that most of the cast could full hop up onto, and the stage in total would be about as wide as FD.
It's easier to hit enemies above you by a huge amount unless they're vMetaknight lol

Being above the opponent is a really bad situation you want to avoid.
Not necessarily. If you disagree, get a friend to camp at the green hut on Hyrule. Then have him camp the top of fourside. There's a huge difference in who has the advantage here.

I'm not sure who exactly you're talking to. Tongue
Jungle is TOO FREAKIN HUGE. I even consider it too big for doubles. Narrow it down by like 33% and it might be okay.
